The Catch-22 of the Trump Tower Meeting

The Trump Tower Meeting that took place on June 9, 2016 is one of the first times that there was direct meeting between people from Trump’s campaign and Russians. This could have been a smoking gun for anyone saying that Trump Colluded with the Russians. From Trump’s side the people involved were not small players. Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s son-in-law Jarrad Kushner, and Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort were all present along with people associated with the Kremlin.

The meeting, which was first discovered when Kushner had changed his security clearance form to include it, was set up by Trump’s long term acquaintance, Rob Goldstone. This was done on behalf of Russian singer/songwriter Emin Agalarov. The promise of the meeting was dirt on Hillary Clinton, Trump’s opposition in the 2016 /general election. The meeting itself was first publicized in the New York Times on July 18, 2017, more than a year after the meeting.

Goldstone had sent an email to Trump Jr. on June 3, 2016 which stated the following:

Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting.
The Crown prosecutor of Russia[ met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.
This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump – helped along by Aras and Emin.

The participants of the meeting included the following:

While the purpose of the meeting was supposed to be about Russian dirt on Hillary, the dirt was downplayed. Trump Jr. originally said it was about Russian Adoptions, but then later clarified that the meeting was more about the Magnitsky Act and illegal donations to a firm connection to Bill Browder who lobbied for the Magnitsky Act. The Ziff Brothers had evaded tens of millions of taxes in Russia and then donated to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. These claims were later backed up by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Helsinki Summit in Finland and with the release of the Manafort Notes.

So why is this meeting underplayed? Why would this not be heralded from the airwaves? Clearly based on Goldstone’s email Trump Jr. knew that the dirt was coming from Russia. Maybe it is not a question of who paid for the dirt, but who fabricated the dirt. Let’s look into Natalia Veselnitskaya and why she was in America on the date of the meeting.

I had done a pretty good write-up in the past about Veselnitskaya and how she was representing Prevezon Holdings and it’s owner Denis Katsyv. I had missed the catch-22. To briefly sum up the thread, Katsyv had hired Veselnitskaya and Fusion GPS through law firm BakerHostetler. Veselnitskaya had been in town for a court case for Prevezon during the day and met Trump Jr. that night. The thread is below:

The biggest deal people were making was that Veselnitskaya had called Glenn Simpson, the owner of Fusion GPS both before and after the meeting. This made many on the right believe that the tower meeting was a set up, thus negating all of the information above. This disinformation had caused me to think it was fake news from the right as reporter Lee Stranahan for the past few month has been saying right wing news covers up for Bill Browder. The logic in my mind made sense, make the meeting look like a set up, that way all the information that was damaging to Browder and Magnitsky act was ignored. The right will only care about what they believe to be a set up while the left is focused on the collusion, not the actual dirt.

It was then pointed out to me the other day that the dirt that was provided by Veselnitskaya was provided by Fusion GPS. As stated above, Fusion and Veselnitskaya were both hired by BakerHostetler who was hired by Denis Katsyv. While Katsyv is a private Russian citizen, his father is Petr Katsyv, vice president of Russia’s state-run rail monopoly and “reportedly a business associate of Vladimir Yakunin, a confidant of Vladimir Putin.” If you follow the money up, you can see that Fusion GPS’s payment’s can be linked to the Russian Government.

What is interesting, is if you swap out Katsyv for the DNC and BakerHostetler for Perkins Coie, you have the same template that Hillary Clinton had used to dig up dirt on Donald Trump that was later used to obtain a FISA Warrant on Carter Page. If you want a Catch-22, there it is. What is interesting as well is Veselnitskaya was recently indicted for obstruction of justice for submitting fabricated evidence to the SDNY. There have been parts of the Steele Dossier that was submitted via Fusion GPS that have been proven to be false. An example would be Michael Cohen’s visit to Prague.

Hillary Clinton and the media had made any dealings with Russia seem toxic, yet they happened to use Fusion GPS even though the Prevezon case was first? Had Fusion GPS registered under FARA their work? If Fusion GPS gets brought down, what happens to their work that was used to obtain a FISA warrant on Carter Page? You can see how this creates a problem for not only Fusion GPS and Clinton, but also the press who continues to shove the collusion narrative down the throats of Americans while ignoring the other half of the equation.

Senator Chuck Grassely is already on the case as on March 30, 2017 he called for a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into purported connections between Fusion GPS and Russia, and an inquiry as to whether Fusion GPS was acting as an unregistered foreign agent. Fusion denied and the Washington Post’s fact checker denied the claim as well.

There were a series of interviews done by the US House and Senate Committees that were done to question these claims. Senator Dianne Feinstein leaked one of the transcripts in a surprising move.

As a little bonus, I had asked if there were any links between Perkins Coie and BakerHostetler since the schemes surrounding Fusion GPS were very similar. Turns out both law firms were named as ‘Founding Stewards‘ to new blockchain based identity company named Sovrin. Sovrin, run by the nonprofit Sovrin Foundation, “is a global, decentralized identity network that allows people and organizations to create portable, self-sovereign digital identities, which they control, and cannot be taken away by any government or organization” according to the BakerHostetler website. The cross-organization model can be seen below.

While I have yet to find any Russian ties to Sovrin, the entire idea sounds like a push towards globalism as it reduces sovereignty. People would be giving their information to un-elected third party corporations instead of the government and isn’t that what the goal of globalization is in the long run, the end of democracy?
